BioTrade project funded by EU to kick off
On 1 April 2016, the BioTrade project funded European Union was kicked off, enhancing the overall goal of developing Vietnam into a “internationally recognized supplier of choice for biodiversity derived natural ingredient products – sourced, processed, and traded in compliance with the Convention on Biological Diversity and BioTrade principles”.
The project is implemented by HELVETAS Intercooperation gGmbH and Center for Rural Economic Development (CRED) with a budget of 2,063,000 EUR. The intervention approach is planned through partnership with 12 SMEs in natural ingredients sector to improve livelihoods of 5000 farmers. Besides, it is expected that the project will help raise awareness of Vietnamese consumers on BioTrade concept and BioTrade products, as well as help create an enabling policy environment for the development of natural ingredients sector.
Hopefully, with BioTrade project and its donor EU giving a hand, the natural ingredients sector will continued to thrive toward sustainable development, contribute to national development goals.
